Rachel H. Poritz is an attorney admitted to practice before the various New York State Courts. She is admitted to Federal Practice before the United States District Courts for the Eastern and Southern Districts and the Court of Appeals for the Second Circuit.
Ms. Poritz graduated from Brooklyn Law School, where she was a Notes and Comments Editor on the Brooklyn Law Review, a finalist in the Best Brief Competition, a Dean's Merit Scholar, and a recipient of CALI Awards for Legal Writing and Women and the Law.
During law school, Ms. Poritz assisted with motions and appeal documents in the mass tort bankruptcy case In re Dow Corning and attended the Dow Corning Breast Implant Settlement Hearing in the Bankruptcy Court of the Eastern District of Michigan.
Following graduation, Ms. Poritz acted as the Court Attorney to former Supreme Court Justice Lorraine S. Miller in the Supreme Court of the State of New York, New York County. In that position, Ms. Poritz managed a civil litigation case inventory and negotiated settlements in medical malpractice, tort, and labor law cases.
Since that time, Ms. Poritz has worked in private practice, specializing in medical malpractice defense, construction/labor law, insurance law, and tort litigation, with an emphasis on legal research, writing and appeals. Prior to joining our firm, Ms. Poritz drafted motion papers and conducted medical research in the first successful Frye hearing in a medical malpractice case in Richmond County. Since joining our firm, Ms. Poritz has successfully obtained summary judgment in several large exposure cases and prevailed on numerous appeals in the various appellate courts.
